I don’t know how many of you have read ‘The Historian’ by Elizabeth Kostova, which was an incredible read but her latest book has recently been released ‘The Swan Thieves’.
I took a little wander around Wordsworth Books a couple of days ago when some time needed to be whiled a way. It was a rather bad idea as it just reminded me that my book fund is lower than I would like it to be and was not actually able to purchase any books. While doing the perusing I came across this new book of hers and as soon as I saw it, I did about a million calculations in my head to see if I could afford it. You know the ones, if I transfer money from that account to this account and take into consideration I have x amount in my purse, could I buy it?
Alas, it was not to be, there was no way I could double the funds in that instant. Not all was lost though because today, as I walked into the main house, what book did I see lying on the counter, but The Swan Thieves. My eyes googled out of their sockets and my heart did a little pitter patter dance of joy!
Turns out my sister in law who has just arrived from JHB to visit the family brought it for her mother to read! How cool is that? So, anyway, I have managed to get ‘first reading rights’ -have to finish it in a week, which is so doable, but there goes my plans of early nights for the next few days and I am so book excited that I had to share my good news with other book fanatics, before I actually picked it up and began to delve into its new smelling pages.
Now that I have got that off my chest, I’m off to read!
